Aligning Your Outer Self with Your Higher Self
Is there a space where wellness and spirituality meet style? I recently hosted a private member event where we explored just that. It was held in a beautiful styling studio called Woven. The evening was an opportunity to celebrate our community, learn about style with a new perspective and support a local business.
The title of the event was Aligning Your Outer Self with Your Higher Self. In the process of healing and connecting with your Higher Self, you may begin to notice that your external environment no longer reflects who you are at your core. Your physical environment – including certain relationships, may no longer fit. As you evolve, the world around you evolves. To some extent, the same can happen with your style and clothing.
Your clothing is an extension of you. It certainly doesn’t define you, but it can reflect your essence if you choose.
Here are three points to keep in mind when it comes to integrating style with spirituality:
Reflect Your Desired Feelings and Energy: Allow your clothing to be a reflection of how you want to feel and the energy you want to embody. Ask yourself how you want to feel before choosing what to wear. Pay attention to the energy—whether it’s power, peace, or flow. Enclothed cognition is the actual scientific term used to describe the overall influence that clothing has on someone’s psychological processes.
Release Clothing with Negative Energy: Remember that your clothes hold energy – whether in the form of memories (good or bad) or emotional triggers. An example of this is to let go of clothing that no longer fits or serves you. These pieces can trigger unconscious feelings of shame, guilt or judgment. Release them and embrace the body you are in today with clothing that feels good now.
Keep It Lean and Simple: Less is truly more. Choose to keep only pieces that you love and that align with who you are today. Consider curating a capsule wardrobe with fewer pieces that can be mixed and matched. (This has been a recent obsession of mine on Pinterest.)
You wear clothing every single day, so you may as well feel good in it!
