Are You Actually Playing Small… or Just Being True to You?
This week, there was a theme that surfaced across my sessions – inside the membership, the mastermind, and my 1:1 client work. And it’s one that has stayed with me.
It began in our weekly mindset class with Marsha Vanwynsberghe, where we explored the stories that keep us small… and then continued into our coaching hour the next day. In that space, someone asked a question that opened up such a powerful and unexpected conversation:
What does “playing small” actually mean? And what if I want to play small?
That’s the power of being in the right room – a space where you feel safe enough to question, to explore, and to challenge the narratives you’ve been given. Because that’s the point… not to accept everything as truth, but to meet it with curiosity.
And in that curiosity, we began to see that “playing small” isn’t one-size-fits-all.
What landed for me is this: your soul’s purpose is to be your fullest expression – to show up as the most honest, aligned version of you. So “playing small” is simply any way you hold yourself back from that. For some, it looks like hiding your voice. For others, it shows up as people-pleasing, or saying yes when it’s not a full-body yes.
But here’s the permission piece… your fullest expression is not meant to look like anyone else’s. And it will shift and evolve depending on the season you’re in. Not everyone is here to build an audience of millions, and not everyone is meant to create the same version of success or life.
It gets to be what you want. You get to do it your way.
This tied so beautifully into my conversation on the podcast this week with Audrey Bailey – Founder of The Village Realty Group, where we explored what it really means to build a business – and a life, that feels aligned and yours. One that isn’t forced or performative, and isn’t driven by what you think you should want, but by what actually feels true for you.
Because real expansion isn’t about doing more… it’s about allowing yourself to be more of YOU.
Remember to breathe, and trust that you are spiritually wired for your dreams – they’re already waiting for you.
Sending much love your way.
