The Shift That Changed Everything About My Mental Health

May is Mental Health Awareness Month and this year, the Canadian Mental Health Association’s theme is Come Together, reminding us that stronger connections lead to stronger mental health.

And honestly… this resonates with me deeply. For a long time when I struggled with anxiety, my instinct was to outthink it. To fix it in my mind. But what changed everything was realizing that mental health isn’t just mental. It lives in the body, the nervous system, our energy… … and in how supported and connected we feel.

The real shift began when I stopped asking: What’s wrong with me? and started asking: What do I need right now?

That question softened everything.

I share more about this – including the three shifts that genuinely supported my healing, in this week’s mini solo episode. And interestingly, at the heart of all three shifts was connection.

Because we are not wired to do this alone.

We heal in safe spaces. In conversations where we can exhale. In relationships where we feel seen instead of performing. Especially in a world where we’re more digitally connected than ever, yet so many people still feel deeply alone.

This also connects beautifully with this week’s conversation on the podcast with Andrea Mondoux on self-trust. Andrea shared something so powerful: trust isn’t about the outcome – it’s about knowing “I’ve got myself no matter what.”

And I truly believe that kind of self-trust grows through connection too. Through being supported, witnessed, and reminded of who we are when we forget.

We are spiritually wired. And we are wired for connection.

And if your mental health ever feels too heavy to carry alone, please reach out. Asking for support is not weakness – it’s one of the deepest acts of self-trust  and self-love there is.

And as we move through Mother’s Day today, I also want to acknowledge that this day can hold many different emotions. For some, it’s joyful and deeply meaningful. For others, it may bring grief, complicated relationships, or reminders of what’s been lost or hoped for.

But I also know that nurturing energy exists in so many forms. If you are someone who loves deeply, holds space for others, offers encouragement, care, compassion, or healing – thank you. The world needs more of that energy.

And for those of you who are mothers, happy Mother’s Day. I hope you feel celebrated, loved, and deeply appreciated for all that you are and all that you give.

Remember to breathe, and trust that you are spiritually wired for your dreams -they’re already waiting for you.
