My Word Of The Year

As we step into a fresh new year, I love the practice of choosing a word to guide my energy and intentions. For me, this word becomes an anchor – a single word that captures the essence of what I want to embody. This year, my word is BREAKTHROUGH.

Choosing a word (or a few words) isn’t just about setting a theme; it’s about embracing an energy. When I spent time reflecting on the past year and envisioning the one ahead, the word breakthrough kept surfacing, accompanied by a vivid image of glass shattering. The sound, the light, the release – it all spoke to a shift that feels long overdue. While breakthrough might sound like a big, bold word, it feels surprisingly light to me – like a butterfly emerging from a cocoon after years of transformation.

The truth is that the past few years have been a lot of work. It’s often felt like being in the trenches – intense, transformative and deeply healing. My word for last year was deeper, and it led me to profound growth. But this year? This year feels different. It’s about breaking through those layers, stepping into lightness of being and allowing what’s new and fresh to emerge.

What I love most about having a word for the year is the invitation it offers. It becomes a question: What does breakthrough mean in my health? In my relationships? In my work? The word becomes a lens through which I see opportunities, challenges and growth. It allows me to focus on the energy I want to cultivate rather than getting caught up in rigid plans.

This word also connects deeply to the energy of the book: 10x Is Easier Than 2x by Dr. Benjamin Hardy and Dan Sullivan. The concept is simple yet profound: sometimes, aiming higher and embracing big shifts is easier than incremental change. Breakthrough invites me to take that fresh perspective, to let go of control and to allow new energy to emerge. There’s a surrendering aspect to breakthrough – a willingness to trust the process and lean into the possibilities.

As you reflect on your year ahead, I invite you to choose a word for yourself. What energy do you want to embody? What will guide you as you set your goals and intentions?

Here’s to breakthroughs, fresh perspectives, and the joy of new beginnings.
