Birthday reflections + lessons learned

I celebrated my birthday this week! It was just the perfect time for some self-reflection. As always, this year was a mix of challenges, valuable lessons and many things to celebrate. Here are 5 lessons that I’m taking with me on my next trip around the sun. Let me know if any of them resonate with you too!

Sleep is everything

  • Let’s just say that hormones are a real thing and we need to talk about it more! I’ve learned just how important my sleep is to my well-being. Stay tuned for more on this as I’m making sleep my new health priority.

Less is so much more

  • It’s been a year of releasing lots of “physical stuff” and commitments. The less I have, the lighter I feel. I’m all about simplifying and slowing down now.

 I need solitude

  • Turns out that I’m not an extrovert after all! I love being with people however, I receive a lot of my energy from quiet time all on my own. Setting boundaries is essential to protecting this time and something want to continue working on.

You can’t rush the healing

  • Between the loss of my father-in-law and physical injuries for both my husband and I – we were reminded that healing is very much non linear.

It requires a whole lot of self-compassion and patience. And then more patience and self-compassion.

The most significant lesson I’ve learned has been centred around bringing a new depth of awareness to some long-standing limiting beliefs. It hasn’t been a seamless journey – as personal growth often is. However, I’m really grateful for the transformation and mindset shift that is happening!

As always, it was a year of learning and doing my best to show up every day.

Some days were better than others. And I’ve learned to be ok with that too. Overall though, it’s been a good year and I thank you for being a big, big part of it

What have been your biggest lessons so far this year? Take some time to acknowledge how far you’ve come and all you have to celebrate!

Stay calm & healthy my friend. And as always remember to slow down and breathe…
