The Only Constant in Life…

Amidst all the uncertainty in life, one thing remains constant: change. It’s a force of nature, an integral part of the human experience, and yet, we often find ourselves resisting it.

I like to think of the force of life as the current of a river. When we resist it, it feels like swimming against a powerful flow. Yes, you may work hard and stay ahead for a while, but sooner or later, your energy will be depleted. Life itself is always evolving.

… children grow up … bodies change.

… people come and go.

… environments shift.

… work takes on new dimensions.

And through it all, you also evolve.

In the beloved book Journey to the Heart by Melodie Beattie, she says this: You don’t have to fear change, what you need to fear is things staying the same.

I’ve come to understand that what we truly fear is the uncertainty of what change will bring into our lives. Our egos are actually wired to keep us safe. We feel safe when we know what to expect.

We’ve all had experiences to remind us that nothing is certain in life. Clinging to it feels like holding onto a slippery rope. The foundation of Buddha’s teachings is based on attachment being the source of our greatest suffering – attachment being our resistance to change. Let’s just say that Buddha knew a thing or two about inner peacets

Take a moment to reflect on where in your life you might be resisting change. Is it in your career, your relationships, your body, or perhaps in how you view yourself? Instead of going against the current, consider how you can allow life to unfold with more ease in those areas.

Embracing change is a choice to flow and co-create with life itself. It is both liberating and transformative. Are you with me?

Stay calm & healthy my friend. And as always remember to slow down and breathe…
